Dr Jane Boden Msc
I am is the senior counsellor at the Hull IVF UNit. I am a Senior Accredited member of BICA (British Infertility Counselling Association) and a long-standing member of BICA, regularly attending BICA training and study days. My research for my doctorate, completed in 2005, focused on interviewing individuals and couples who had been through unsuccessful IVF treatment 5 years previously. The enormous learning that results from this process helps me to understand and tailor my approach to helping those finding infertiliy a struggle. After working in the NHS for a number of years, I now have my own private practice where I work with individuals and couples experiencing loss, stress, anxiety, depression, work and relationship issues and low self-esteem. I also am an accredited member of BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy), an accredited Bereavement Counsellor and have worked as a counsellor, supervisor and external consultant in a variety of health services. I have a Masters degree in Counselling and a PhD in Psychology and lectures in counselling, coaching and developmental pyschology at the University of Hull.
I qualified as a Registered General Nurse in 1986 and specialised in Intensive Care nursing. I completed my doctoral training in Counselling Psychology in 2011. I have worked as a counsellor with the Hull IVF Team since 2012. I also work in the NHS for an anxiety and depression service in North Lincolnshire. Other specialities I work with are bereavement, physical health psychology including fibromyalgia and chronic pain and gender identity issues.
I hold the following qualifications: BHsc (Hons), Bsc Psychology (conv) Cpsychol (PhD). I am a Chartered Counselling Psychologist and I am BPS and HPC Registered. I am also a member of BICA and The BCAP.
