Consultant Nurse Practitioner

Denise qualified as a nurse in 1992 and since then her nursing experience has been within general medicine and IVF specialities.   She has been the lead nurse at the Hull IVF Unit since 2002 and during that time she has promoted nurse training within the Unit to ensure that our nurses have extended and enhanced their skills to deliver excellent nursing care.  She has been promoting embryo transfer procedures since 2002 and ovum retrieval since 2004.   She is a recognised trainer for the British Fertility Society (BFS) Pelvic Ultrasound and Embryo Transfer Course.   As a Nurse Practitioner Denise is able to assess all fertility patients both on the IVF Unit and within the Subfertility Clinic and prescribe the medication required for their care.

Denise is trained to perform HyCoSy investigations, a tubal patency test performed under ultrasound.

She has a special interest in ultrasound and has undertaken a Masters Diploma in Advanced Practice focusing on pelvic ultrasound in IVF.  She is also a member of the Senior Infertility Nurses Group (SING).    Denise has been involved in many research projects within the IVF Unit over the years, most of which have enhanced and updated our practice.

RGN Senior Staff Nurse

Dawn qualified as a Registered General Nurse in 1991 and started working as a staff nurse at the Hull IVF Unit in September 2001 having previously worked in the care sector.

As well as carrying out general nursing duties Dawn is currently the recipient co-ordinator for ladies receiving donor eggs.

Clinical Support Worker

Debbie has been working as a Clinical Support Worker at the Hull IVF Unit for six and a half years, prior to which she worked for 14 years in the orthopaedics department at Castle Hill Hospital and obtained her NVQ level 3 in Health Care.  

As well as supporting the nurses in their every day duties, Debbie is in charge of stock control and ordering of nursing supplies.

Amiee Elliott

Staff Nurse

Aimee trained at The University of Nottingham.  She qualified in July 2013 with a Masters Degree in Nursing Science.   Amiee worked as a staff nurse at the Leeds Neonatal Unit prior to working at the Hull IVF Unit.    Aimee will carry out embryo transfers and is currently undertaking training in pelvic ultrasound techniques.

Aimee also audits the satisfaction surveys, so is very keen to receive any comments that may help provide a better service or improve the unit, positive comments are also welcome.
