What date will you close and reopen?

This year we will be closing on Friday 21st December 2018 at 4:00 pm and re-opening on Wednesday 2nd January 2019 at 08:00 am.

What should I do if I have an urgent query, drug question or medical query whilst you are closed?

There is always a nurse on call for emergencies, please call the hospital switchboard on 01482 328541 and ask the operator to bleep the IVF nurse on call.   The on call nurse will then call you back.

What shall I do if my period starts over the Christmas Closure period and I need to contact the Unit to commence treatment?

If your period starts during the Christmas closure, please make a note of the first day of your fresh red bleed and call us on Wednesday 2nd January 2019, between 08:00 am and 4:00.  We will ask you for the 1st day of your period which will be the first day of your fresh red bleed.

What should I do if my period starts and I have been asked to commence injections during the Christmas Closure?

If your period starts during the Christmas closure, please call us on Wednesday 2nd January 2019, between 08:00 am and 4:00 pm, and inform us of the first day of your bleed and when you commenced your injections (the nurses will have written the date to commence your injections in your blue folder).   We will then arrange for a nurse to call you back with a date for your scan appointment.

What should I do if I have undertaken my pregnancy test during the Christmas closure?

This will have been discussed with the nurse who discharged you following your embryo transfer.

Please do your test as planned; if the result is positive please continue with your drugs and call us on the 2nd January 2019 to get further instructions and to book your ultrasound scan appointment.

If the test is negative and you have already started your period, stop taking all treatment drugs and call us on, or soon after, the 2nd January 2019 to let us know.

If the test is negative and you have not started your period, stop taking all treatment drugs and await your period.  Please call us to let us know on, or soon after, the 2nd January 2019.
