IVF & ICSI -A Closer Look
The two main treatment types during fertility treatment are IVF and ICSI. IVF and ICSI are advised according to patients’ individual history and investigations.
Please note the 2018 live birth results and the 2019 clinical pregnancy results shown have not yet been validated by the HFEA.
For 2018, 289 treatment cycles using the patients’ own eggs resulted in an embryo transfer.
41.9% of these cycles were ICSI (121/289). Split cycles (where some eggs are used with IVF and others with ICSI), using the patients’ own eggs and resulting in an embryo transfer, accounted for 4.2% of cycles in 2018; split cycles are not included in the following table.
For 2019, 284 treatment cycles using the patients’ own eggs resulted in an embryo transfer. 37.8% of these cycles were ICSI (107/284). Split cycles (where some eggs are used with IVF and others with ICSI), using the patients’ own eggs and resulting in an embryo transfer, accounted for 1.4% of cycles in 2019; split cycles are not included in the following table.
